Please Help Justin and His family today

The Family reaches out.....

I am writing to seek help for our son, Justin, who is currently in the fight of his life. Justin is a 28-year old Navy SEAL Lt. recently diagnosed with Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia. (As an active SEAL, the U.S. Department of Defense has directed that his last name not be used for security reasons.) Since his diagnosis, Justin has also been found to have the Philadelphia chromosome, an unfortunate complication that makes a bone marrow stem cell transplant a necessity for any chance of survival.

Currently, Justin's leukemia is in remission. He and his wife, to whom he just married in January 06, anxiously await the news of a stem cell donor as neither of his siblings was a match. Hopefully, in a short time he will be transferred to bone marrow transplant hospital where he will remain for at least one month in monitored facilities. Later, he and his wife will need to find an apartment where they will stay for the next four to six months while under going daily treatments. Unfortunately, the past 12 months have not been favorable to Justin and his wife. They were first hit by Katrina and lost all the contents of their home near New Orleans. They didn't get back into their home until March and had just finished renovating the home themselves on Memorial Day. Then, he was diagnosed with leukemia on June 2.

This is how you can help a brave warrior and his family in this time of extreme need.. Donations can be made to help defray the unknown living and medical costs not covered by the Navy and to help defray the travel and lodging expenses of his parents so they can be with their son. An account has been set up through Soldiers' Angels to receive any donations.

Thank you in advance for your love, support, and prayers for our son and his wife.

Michigan joins to help find bone marrow donor

Hi Adele,

I had told you about a drive in Grand Rapids, MI and said I would let you know when I had the details.

The drive was already set up by the blood center and I am just going to try and get people here on behalf of Justin, the Navy SEAL.

Here goes.

A Bone Marrow Drive will be held at the Michigan Community Blood Center at 1036 Fuller NE, Grand Rapids, MI 49501 on September 5, 2006. It will run from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. This is a free marrow testing for participants who also donate a pint of blood as well on that day. There will be a questionaire that needs to be filled out. Anyone who plans on donating that day, I ask that they contact me at 616-453-4574 or LKBrock84@cs.com to let me know. I will then contact Anne at the blood center and let her know how many they can anticipate so that they have the personnel and supplies to deal with it.

This drive will also place you on the National Marrow Donor Program.

Linda Brock.
