Wings of Hope
There are countless stories of our Heroes helping the people of Iraq, Afghanistan, and wherever they are sent - going out of their way to help those less fortunate. Rebuilding schools, providing medical aid, and so much more…and it is the children that most dearly have their hearts. Many of our Heroes go especially above and beyond to help the children they come in contact with every day.
Wings of Hope is a program started by Philip B., an Airman stationed in Afghanistan. Philip, and others in his unit, have been working to provide school supplies and other items to Afghani children and their families:
I have started a little program here for local schools and children/families who do not have much. I have traveled the base asking for the units to donate what ever they can spare as to school supplies and things they think kids would want. I am mostly focusing on school supplies and etc, but there isn't much here for us to get a hold of to give to them…
Philip emailed his Soldiers’ Angel to ask for some help, and the program was dubbed "Wings of Hope."
